favorite things friday

this is the sweetest blog! I have always been a huge fan of postsecret, and this is kind of similar. i love briefly being let into strangers' lives, even if it is just through a picture or a postcard. dearphotograph.com contains submissions of people taking pictures OF pictures from the past in the present [if that makes sense :)] and i think it's such a great idea!

hope you enjoy it as much as i do!

friday afternoon picnic

Summer hours for work are a blessing because i get half day Fridays! So this afternoon i went on a picnic at freedom park. We packed up some chicken salad sandwiches, veggies & hummus, and some IBC cherry limeade and sat under the shade by the pond. Even in this hot weather, there was enough cool breeze under the shade to make it a really nice afternoon.

tybee island: part 2

We also took a day trip to Savannah, which is such a neat place. We waited in line for over an hour in the (really) hot sun to eat at The Wilkes House for lunch - and, boy, was it worth it! Definitely in the top three best meals of my life. Sadly, I was too hungry by the time we ate to take a picture of this meal.. but here are some other photos i took (while waiting in line of course..) and some extras from the trip!

tybee island: part 1

Two Sunday's ago, I headed down with Kevin to stay at a beach house in Tybee Island, GA with his family for a few days. It was a four hour drive down there, so we got hopped up on dumdums and Starbucks and tried to keep ourselves occupied as best as we could :)

When we got there, we met his parents, Whitney and Dan at the house and then walked over to a cute local bar/grill called Northpoint Grille. We ate dinner outside on the patio and listened to live music. I have this thing about taking pictures of my food (i'm weird, i know.) so here is meal #1 of the trip!

(crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries drizzled with molasses and honey. mmm mmm)

The island was great, it was small and quaint and not at all crowded, which is how i like the beach.
Monday, we hung out by the ocean all day, taking walks, throwing the frisbee and looking for shark teeth :)

amuurrrica

My freedom weekend started off with a trip to Charleston for MC's birthday. we mostly just hung out on the beach all day playing games and taking walks. On saturday night, we went to dinner and a rooftop bar overlooking the streets of charleston. It was a reeeaallly fantastic (but short lived) vacation - and I'm especially looking forward to my next beach trip to Tybee Island :)

On July 4, I went to a fun cookout with kevin. There was lots of good food and lots of good people. We ate and drank and were merry (and also shot off some pretty cool fireworks). Unfortunately, I am camera-illiterate so none of my firework/sparkler photos really came out :( but, oh well, I had a blast anyways!
