oh, what a day!

this past weekend, I went back home to spend time with my family since it was my dad's birthday. 

we ate a ton.

and laughed just about as much as we ate!

on saturday I went with my mom to all sorts of antique malls/stores around greenville, nc

i am on the hunt for pretty teacups :)

this one place we went to was a HUGE barn filled with rows and rows of all kinds of stuff. it was mostly junk, so it was fun searching through all the things to find the real gems. 

i love treasure hunting :)

i spotted this beauty here and i would have died to have it!!

she is a dream come true color and just gorgeous.

This weekend I...

woke up early.

ate breakfast at the pancake house.

volunteered with K  at the  Christ the King Community Garden.

went antiquing at the Sleepy Poet with T & J.
came home empty handed.

napped.
ordered a white trash burger and pimento cheese fries at Pinky's.
slept in.
went to church.
called an old friend.

now I'm ending this rainy evening with the best mug brownies (recipe found here) and Harry Potter movie marathon on TV!

Hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day! This V day we decided to have a fancy "dinner in" with my roommate and her beau! Since we don't have a kitchen table, we had to make due with our coffee table - which I tried to spruce up with a tablecloth (aka a bed sheet), pretty cloth napkins I found at Value Village (where else, duh?!) and a simple centerpiece of candles and flowers. I thought it turned out pretty cute! And will all the candles lit, it was pretty romantic :)

 

For dinner we had steaks, horseradish mashed potatoes, and asparagus. and sparkling wine. and I made cupcakes for dessert!

for the love of thrift

here are just a few items I've picked up from here and there.

I wasn't too sure what to do with the coasters.. but I have been wanting to organize my make-up drawer, so I just used them for a quick fix as containers for my eyeshadows :)

I also snagged some vintage cloth napkins that I plan on using for Kevin and I's fancy V-day dinner at home this upcoming Tuesday.

I think there is a little something for everyone in his collection. I missed the opening - but I will not miss out on getting some of these beauties!!

life update

I feel like I have been kind of M.I.A. the past couple of weeks. I decided to take a [little] break from the social media world to try and fill my spirit and my time with more meaningful things. I've been working on reading more, having quiet time more often, and spending my evenings with close friends who breathe encouragement and positivity into my life.

Sometimes you just need to cleanse your soul, you know?

It's been good. And really good for me.

But, I haven't been completely off the grid! Recently, a good friend of mine got engaged. That same day her fiance had planned a surprise birthday party for her, so we all got to celebrate together! I also went to a fun 90's dance partayy 3 weekends ago, and 2 weekends ago celebrated my roommate/best girl's 25th birthday!  I decorated our apartment with a DIY banner and some balloons and made her a cookie cake of her favorite things (pink, black, and bikes)!




This past weekend a friend of mine had his photography and some print work put up in a gallery. He is very talented, y'all. The photography and print was for a collaboration he did with CLASP International over in Zambia - and you can see some of his work here and here :)

Then I went to brunch Saturday morning with some girl friends and got delicious coffee drinks and eggs benedict w/ grits. 

And I helped Kevin pick out some new glasses. Isn't he cute?!
